| There are too many things in this world that I cannot calculate. It's amazing seeing how others can see through situations that you can't. It gives them power to change the situation for themselves. And I sit around without any idea whats going on, whether I am being pinned by others or not. I feel like a stupid idiot, I'm miscalculating everything around me. I must improve...
On the other hand, I must search for something I love. Whether it is a person, an item or an activity. I'm missing all these elements in my life, there are a lot of things i like to do, but i just cant find something i love to do. I need something that can give me motivation to live, a motivation for me to strive. I guess this is a long term goal, I just have to keep searching for the right thing for me...

| ppl nowadays seem to be so exciting about the upcoming iPhone by looking at pics and watching the keynote available online. It looked like a good deal at first, after i researched on it a bit. i realize no it is not a good deal.
The 2 year Cingular contract is a big dealbreaker. the contract is FORCED, considering a normal plan in USA is about 35USD, you will be paying $840 USD extra. 840+499=1339 *7.8 = 10444.2 HKD. yes, ur paying 10k for a phone, not 4k. that is considering the plan is 35 dollars, since you cant choose a plan - its a monopoly. the price would most likely be sth around $45 bucks per month. Thats $12316 HKD. GG.
consider again if your planning to import it to HK. you will need to unlock the phone so that you can use other provider. <-- u probably thinking spending 200-400 bucks unlocking the phone (and risking ur phone being screwed). unless, you can unlock the phone before paying the contact, which is highly unlikely. Why would Apple let u unlock the phone?
Other comments seen online:
- 8 GB is a bit limited for iPod owners
- GPS receiver. At this price level I really would like this device to
be able to do mapping & routing off the cellular grid. GPS signal =
free. GSM mapping is not.
- FM receiver. Apple doesn get it. Not everything is about iTunes,
every day I want to listen to the news or radio too, without an extra
radio or attachment. It is very silly not to include a simple digital
FM/AM receiver, which would not cost Apple much given the iPod
production & sales volume.
- Apple own .mac subscribers ($99/yr) need to sign up for Yahoo email
to have push iMap? Am I missing something? Why not set it up for the
.mac users to begin with? Offer a free .mac p-imap account? and broaden
the .mac market?
- no syncing over WiFi
- no VOIP & IM ~ iChat, Skype, ?As an nternet communicator?how
can it not have this functionality. I communicate more over the
internet in a day then I do over a phone & cellphone in a week.
Very disappointing.
- no word, excel, ppt viewing - crucial to the office environment, business people and tech support
- no note taking
- no 3rd party widgets
- no 3rd party applications to fill the gaps Apple leaves. Every
professional I know has a PDA which contains some types of reference
materials. They will keep using Palm or WIndows Mobile unless their
program can be made available for the iPhone platform.
So, the more reality sets in, the more the wonderful iPhone has
limited appeal and may be tougher sell than we thought the first hour.
I understand they had to pick a provider, that there 6 months ot time
before theyl finalize the software features, etc. People are easily fooled by appearances....=.= or is our school just rich to be able to afford $12XXX or a phone?

| Life is so ma fan, I wish i wasn't born so I don't have to go through the troubles in life. Fuck Uni apps. I used to like going to school, nothing to worry and so carefree. Now comes Uni apps that causes so much trouble. Screw school.
Kevin, I'm glad that you found a subject you're passionate for, I really do. When you have found it, perhaps education seems more than just about money. I don't know how many ppl actually found what they are passionate for, and I don't know how many ppl actually do it for their passion instead of the money. Certainly, money comes into a huge percentage of consideration while choosing careers. I'm wondering if you would still choose the path to engineering if you get paid $0 (just say that you don't have to worry about living). Without a doubt, that my theory still stands if you remove the concept of money there would be no concept of education. Ultimately, these careers are created revolving around money - if there were no demand for engineers, certainly there is no one trying to educate ppl to become engineers (Law of Demand and Supply). You may not educate yourself in engineering because of money, but the career is based on money. You're indirectly dragged into the purpose of education which is money, whether you like it or not.
I'm not trying to formulate a law of the purpose of education, but just merely suggesting (mr.clarke style) a theory that seems to best satisfy the purpose of education.
To be honest, I envy you that you had found a career you're passionate for. I cannot find mine, and yet I'm dragged to this hole that i must decide to take a path and pursue it.
EDIT: I guess some ppl still dont understand what i mean. To simplify my argument: If ur passinate about your education (and that is the reason why ur pursuing a higher level of education) - You're thinking in MICRO terms, when you take into account of the society its MACRO terms. How can you argue the purpose of education in "micro terms" when education is for the general public. Thus, if my theory is written in macro terms and it holds true even to some extent it WILL be weighed more than you're own personal thoughts (micro).
I mean seriously, if we elminate the concept of money. Do you really think we would still go to school? All i would do is go out play with my friends. It's much more happiness to me if i just did that. Of course, I know some ppl treat education like Gaming or something. That's what i personally think.
Nik, I called this my theory but i tell you it's not really mine since a lot of ppl thought of it before. Honestly, I think that we all know there is some truth in the statement i suggested, yet no one would be brave enough to say it out loud. It's human nature to try to conceal greed to some extent, if you know that arguement: "is there a selfless deed?". A lot of ppl would want to find proof that there are selfless deeds, but nobody has found one yet. I think that Im one of those who are willing to express my thoughts. Actually, I'm just bored and I dont want to do my uni apps

| I have been recently thinking about the purpose of education and the reason why the hell i have to fill in this damned application form for university.

Quite nicely put, he states that the purpose of education is action. Interesting how Harvard judges ppl admitting to Harvard based on grades. So in a way, judging a person based on test results is not the real purpose of education. In fact, it can be argued that what you put on paper is not all the knowledge you have on the subject. What does this mean? It means that universities, school, teachers, parent's idea of education is totally incorrect. Interesting how a sight change in numbers in your report card would affect the way ppl would see you. Amazing how much ppl learning crap to get a 7 in the exams and forget everything a few days after the exam. There, thats right, thats the purpose of education getting a 7 in our report card and nothing else counts after.
In my search of the purpose of education, i finally made my conclusion:
"The greatest purpose of education is not knowledge nor action, but money."
Everything we learn in school, all the subjects we take; serves the ultimate purpose of making money. Take any subject, english, chinese, art, maths - you can turn artwork into $$ or write business proposals in english/chinese to make $$. I have yet to find a contradiction to my theory. There is no exception. The most important subjects are of course, the ones that are the best at making money. Eg: maths, science, eng/chi. Who needs art when so few can make $$ out of it? Philosophy is just bullshit, after all you cant make money out of it. Psychology - what use is it to study human behavior that cant make money? In fact, the reason why your in school is to increase your potential to make money. (Remember education shifts the Aggregate Supply to the right due to the increase of productivity.) Can anyone deny the reason why they are in school is to make money?
Education can be seen in a different point of view: to engage in brain activity. Playing computer games is engaging brain activity, its just training a different part of your mind. Practically its impossible to not engage in any brain activity. But if playing computer games is put into the "purpose of education" it can be seen as useless, because simply your not making any money out of playing computer games.
Wow now i realize why im filling this app in! Its to increase my potential to make more money! Yay, im so happy. Its such a great cause to make money.
